Trends in Podcasting:

Podcast have been around for about 15 years started by people in their garages, and people listened on iPods.

This is where the podcast name comes from, and for many years there were. only a couple thousand podcasts. A hobby for most podcasters. It wasn't something intended to be an industry or a market or a professional medium. I don't think anybody in 2003 had the vision this would create a multibillion-dollar market donned by every major brand Media company and celebrity personality, which is what it's becoming.

In 2015, there were 250,000 podcasts. Today, there are 700,000. We've more than nearly tripled in three and a half years to 700,000 podcasts. It might sound like we're saturated with everybody has a podcast.

Making audio easier for people who aren’t audio insiders.

~ Dan Radin ~

Take a look at podcasts next to their closest analogue cousin, which is video. There's somewhere between 30 and 50 million YouTube channels. So 700,000 podcasts means we're still inthe really early days. Our ambition or our vision for this Market is there's going to be at least one podcast for every ten YouTube channels by 2025, which is in seven years from now.

We're going to go from 700,000 podcast to 3 million in podcasts in the next seven years. With this forecast, even though it seems like everybody and their grandmother has a podcast you're still early and it's important to grab the opportunity.

What has changed is it's harder to gain authority and grow exposure. Now you have 699,000 competitors to get noticed. So it's really important you take a very strategic approach. Keep looking at your competition seeing what they're doing and what they're not doing. Discover how you can find your own special niche.
