The Top Writing Habit, Writing, Read To Write

Be An Apprentice

People learn new trades and skills by being an apprentice. The practice is utilized today in many fields.

An apprentice is simply someone who mentors you to learn more about your chosen career or hobby. In the age of technology, you have many ways to find mentors through blogs, online courses, and books.

If you want to become a better writer, then I highly recommend you READ. Read books about writing as well as books in the genre you want to write. See how other writers are share information or stories. What are they doing well? What would you like to do differently in your book?

I look for words and phrases writers use to describe things. Look for how they use imagery, and stories to make their points. Is the pace fast or slow? What keeps your attention, and what makes you lose it?

Each month read one to two books about writing as well as WRITE every day or as often as you can.
